Drone Defence Services Ltd (“Drone Defence” or the “Company”), are pleased to announce that their AeroPing remote-ID module has been approved for use by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
At the beginning of 2024, EASA brought in new European legislation requiring drones flown in the EU to comply with remote-ID broadcasting.
The AeroPing module, designed to provide real-time tracking and identification of drones, offers an advanced solution for maintaining airspace safety. This cutting-edge technology is now accessible to a wide range of commercial and private drone operators within the EU, promoting safer and more efficient use of drone technology.
AeroPing connects to Drone Defence’s cloud-based air traffic monitoring platform AeroTracker, which connects authorities and air traffic managers with drone pilots to safely integrate drones into airspace.
The remote-ID module also hosts a range of features including:
- Lightweight (38g)
- Easy to set up
- Connectivity with any DRI receiver app
- Range of up to 1km
This additional approval means the AeroPing has now been approved by the FAA in the USA, EASA within the EU, as well as being compliant to Japan’s Civil Aeronautics Act 2020.
Richard Gill, CEO of Drone Defence, expressed his enthusiasm about the approval: “We are really pleased that EASA has recognised the AeroPing module’s capabilities and granted approval for its use within the EU. This approval is a testament to our commitment to innovation and safety in the drone industry. We believe AeroPing will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe integration of drones into European airspace.”
